The Resilient Nurse Houston Edition Part 1

Updated: Jan 2, 2019

So today was very eventful. My good friend (Jaslynn) and I traveled from Louisiana to Houston so we can attend the resilient nurse workshop tomorrow with THE Nurse Mo and her affiliates. But let's back track a bit to my full week!

Soooooooooo this week was my short week. I worked Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sunday was great and went by very smooth. Wednesday was Halloween and literally the night from hell. As most people know there is a nursing shortage just about everywhere (if you're reading this and you're not a nurse, become a nurse we need you) so we are severely short staffed on top of people calling off because of course it's Halloween! If I could've called off I definitely would have I mean candy, costume parties, who wouldn't! But any who this series of misfortunate events left us with 3 nurses, no tech and 6 patients a piece. I must say the was the hardest night in my novice nurse career ( I do know there will be many more). So after the night from hell I had errands to run before going to sleep for work the next night. Thank God Thursday night went much smoother than the night before but let's be honest a 12 hour shift is a 12 hour shift! Smooth but long so it was definitely hard driving to Houston after getting off Friday morning. I got a smoothie because who doesn't live for $5 Friday at smoothie king I mean come on people ! My favorite is passion passport! But any who I took a two hour nap waiting on Jas to get to my house and around 1 o'clock we set off.

Now from where I live Houston is like 4 hours away. So we drove and drove and drove. The ride was very smooth and guess what.......we didn't see a single state trooper, sheriff or police officer. #WINNING I travel a lot so when I doesn't run into the police I get super excited! No tickets, No tickets! Whoop, Whoop! Back to the story, we got to Houston in record time but ran into, wait for it, dun dun dun TRAFFIC! We got to H-Town like around 4 and literally sat in traffic for a whole entire hour. Anyone who knows me knows I hate traffic so much like it irritates my soul.....but I want to move to Houston so guess who has to get over herself? Yep, it's me! Anyway on our way to the hotel we missed our exit to avoid more traffic and sat in an extra 30 mins. My feelings were so hurt.........I mean come on more traffic! We finally got to the hotel and ate at my favorite restaurant Pappadeaux that night. Literally that made up for all the trouble and heartache from the week I had. Now that you've read this post, please check out my post about the actual Resilient Nurse workshop!

Until next time......

XOXO...
